Antoni Wit will return to London with the Warsaw Philharmonic this summer for a performance at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms. The concert will take place on 23 August and will feature music by Panufnik and Lutoslawski alongside Shostakovich. The BBC Proms performance will mark Maestro Wit’s 10 year tenure as the Warsaw Philharmonic’s Music Director before he steps down at the end of season 12/13.

With 2013 marking the centenary of Witold Lutosławski’s birth, conductor Antoni Wit leads concerts featuring his works in seven cities across Europe. The inaugural concert of the Year in Warsaw with Wit conducting the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and Anne-Sophie Mutter as soloist commences the celebrations in the composer’s home town on 25 January 2013. It will be followed throughout the year by Wit’s concert appearances in Helsinki, Stuttgart, Porto, Parma, Zagreb and London.
