Yi-Jia Susanne Hou performs Max Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy Op. 46 in two concerts with the Stockton Symphony on April 6th & 7th at the Atherton Auditorium in Stockton, California. One of Bruch’s signature works for violin and orchestra, Scottish Fantasy dedicated to the virtuoso violinist Pablo de Sarasate is part of the programme’s musical excursions depicting destinations of wonder, led by the orchestra’s music director Peter Jaffe.
On 22nd of November 2022 Yi-Jia Susanne Hou is playing the iconic Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestra Tong Chen. The performance takes place at the Orpheum as part of the cultural event Image China East-West Symphonic Concert presenting renowned soloists and featuring Chinese and Canadian classical music .
Susanne Hou recorded live He Zhanhao’s & Chen Gang’s Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Cadogan Hall in London. She subsequently toured the work with the RPO under the baton of Mo John Nelson in China and Taiwan. Her connection to the piece has been both artistic and personal since her violinist father was chosen to make a premier recording of the concerto in Shanghai.

Yi-Jia Susanne Hou returns to the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra to perform the Sibelius Violin Concerto in d-minor in the opening concert of the orchestra’s Early Spring Season conducted by Daniel Boico. The performance takes place on August 25th at the Linder Auditorium in Johannesburg with the programme including Dvorak’s Symphony No 9 “From the New World” and the arrangement of the song Moon We shall rise again by the renowned South African jazz songwriter Don Laka. Long-postponed by the pandemics, Canadian violinist Yi-Jia Susanne Hou finally fulfils her invitation by the Folsom Lake Symphony, premier community orchestra in California, to work on a joint project at the start of the new season. Yi-Jia Susanne Hou’s recording of the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Andreas Delfs is launched on takt 1 streaming platform on 16th December. Playing on 1735 Guarneri Del Gesu violin that belonged to Fritz Kreisler at the time of his writing the cadenza for the Concerto, Yi-Jia Susanne Hou’s performance with the unsurpassed London Symphony Orchestra is a special tribute to a unique instrument and the music it inspired. The launch marks Beethoven’s 251st birthday.
Yi-Jia Susanne Hou returns to Canada to perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of the orchestra’s Music Director Gemma New. The live performance takes place on March 19th 2022 at FirstOntario Concert Hall and it will be also available via online broadcast.
Yi-Jia Susanne Hou will perform a recital at Flâneries Musicales de Reims on 8 February 2020 as part of their 30th anniversary season. She will be joined by a Japanese pianist Yumeko Mochizuki in the programme of Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, He/Chen and Takemitsu under a joint title “Harmonies d’Orient” at the unique venue of the historic Demeure des Comtes de Champagne in Reims.
Unanimous First Prize winner of three prestigious International Violin Competitions in France, Italy, and Spain, Yi-Jia Susanne Hou has performed and toured with leading orchestras around the world. In 2013 she recorded the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra playing an outstanding 1735 Guarneri Del Gesu Violin which belonged to Fritz Kreisler at the time of his writing the cadenzas for the Beethoven Concerto. In 2016 she performed and recorded the Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor John Nelson at Cadogan Hall which she subsequently toured with in Canada, China and Taiwan. Susanne Hou is a devoted advocate for music education who passionately engages in creative projects involving early classical music coaching and mentoring aspiring young artists.
